LCF partners with South Florida Chapter Westwood Girls Association on Human Trafficking Forum

LCF participated and supported the South Florida Chapter Westwood Girls Association (SFCWOGA) Human Trafficking Panel Discussion on November 15, 2018.

The Forum engaged approximately 60 South Florida residents in a discussion highlighting the issues of Human Trafficking in both Jamaica and Florida and how NGOs, CSOs and Corporate Foundations through their work can seek to provide support to victims/ potential victims and implement programmes to prevent/reduce trafficking in their communities.
The Panel of Speakers included: Shamere McKenzie, International Speaker on Human Trafficking, CEO, Sun Gate Foundation; Katina Hernandez, Special Agent Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) South Florida Human Trafficking Task Force Special Agent in Charge, Miami; Maria Clara Rodriguez, Project GOLD Director, Kristi House, Inc; Dotti Groover-Skipper, HEARTDANCE Foundation, Inc. “Reclaiming Dignity, Value and Worth; and Deputy Superintendent Carl Berry, Head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s Anti-Trafficking in Persons Unit.
The Forum which took place at the Holy Family Episcopal Church Hall in Miramar Gardens was chaired by Leo Gilling, Coordinator, Jamaica Diaspora Education Task Force.
