LFC SSI Entrepreneurship Support Programme
Empowering entrepreneurs and those pursuing entrepreneurship through success
Inspired by our late Chairman Hon. Lascelles Chin, the LCF SSI Entrepreneurship Support Programme started in 2018 with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty through livelihood creation and business strengthening.
Programme Overview
The programme envisioned a two-phased initiative that provided beneficiaries with learn-as-you-earn entrepreneurial training and opportunities to generate income in an intensive street vending programme or other micro-business sales programme for at least six months, in Phase 1. Beneficiaries who have successfully completed the training, beverage starter kits were provided to start their businesses. Following the completion of Phase 1, successful beneficiaries were transitioned to Phase 2 to establish or improve their businesses through a range of hand-holding interventions.
In 2024, we enhanced the LCF SSI Entrepreneurship Support Programme into two tracks: Youth Track and Small Medium Enterprises (SME) track.
- The Youth Track trains at-risk youth between the ages of 18-29 and empower community members by providing access to modern technology, collaborative spaces, and innovative methods for one year.
- The SME track provides a one-year entrepreneurial training and related support services for micro and small enterprises in vulnerable communities to assist them in strengthening and formalizing their operations.
Entrepreneurship Hub
In partnership with the Institute of Law & Economics (ILE), the programme was designed as a two-phase initiative. Phase 1 offered participants learn-as-you-earn entrepreneurial training and income-generating opportunities through a six-month intensive street vending or micro-business sales programme.
On October 2, 2024, we launched the LCF Entrepreneurship Hub, which houses the Trust for the America’s Democratizing Innovation in the Americas (DIA) lab. The lab facilitates hands-on state of the arts learning to help entrepreneurs create solutions and grow their businesses. It also provides a venue to facilitate our entrepreneurship training.
