The SSI Entrepreneurship Programme is a two-phased initiative that provides beneficiaries with learn-as-you-earn entrepreneurial training and opportunities to generate income in an intensive street vending programme or other micro-business sales programme for at least six months, in Phase 1; Phase 2 assists beneficiaries to establish or improve their businesses through a range of hand-holding interventions over the next 5 to 10 years.

In June 2018, the LCF rolled out the Programme enabling approximately 21 persons from vulnerable communities in Kingston, St. Andrew and St. James to earn income immediately while providing them with a framework to create and sustain viable businesses.

The first cohort of the Programme graduated on Sunday, January 27, 2019, just six (6) months after LCF’s official launch where 9 persons received certification of completion. From 2018 to 2020, the LCF have sensitized approximately 500 persons about entrepreneurship and have provided 3-day entrepreneurship training for nearly 100 at-risk young entrepreneurs. As of March 2020, 20 persons are being assisted in Phase 2 of the Programme.
